I have a brand new polycom IP 550 that I am using in an environment filled with IP 331s. The version on this new phone I have is 4.0.8.1972 whereas all of my other phones are on 3.2.3.x
With new phones, usually all I have to do is change the server type to TFTP, put in a server address, and set my VLAN ID by simply entering the numeric value (200 in our case).
For some reason, the more modern version of the software doesn't seem to be cooperating when I go through those same steps. The 550 doesn't seem to even communicate with the network and pull an IP.
I have used the VLAN Detection in both Auto and more recently "custom" but neither has worked. I read in the manual about potentially using a string rather than a numeric number for the VLAN ID but I am not sure if it applies to this situation (or where to apply it).
Can someone provide me with clarification on what needs to be done to get the same results I have with the phones on older versions of the software?
