[Trio 8500] Users reporting that microphone is unmuting during bluetooth calls

$

Hi

I have had multiple (although infrequent) reports over the past ~3 weeks of our Trio 8500 devices unmuting itself during audio meetings using the Trio as a Bluetooth audio device.

I had initially expected user error, however I sat in a meeting this morning in which this happened again directly before me, and I was able to confirm that the devices went from a muted to unmuted state without being touched by anybody in the room.

I have been unable to find any similar reports through this form. This issue is being reported on multiple 8500s (we have three in total, owned for around 1.5 years). One was recently factory reset.

Recreating the issue so far hasn't worked. I cannot say whether this happens only on audio meetings via Bluetooth, or also during traditional voice calls via SIP.

Is anyone else familiar with anything similar to this?

Phone details and log file, please let me know if any more information may help:

  • Software version: 5.9.3.7982
  • Phone model: Poly Trio 8500
  • Call platform: SIP

Log file attached (the unmute I highlight above happened at round 10:00 AM local time, which is 09:00 UTC on 29-September).

Thanks

Does the VVX 501 support the vvx color expansion module?

I see in the data sheet that the 500 is listed but it is end of life, the 501 appears to be the replacement and I would like to know before I purchase it if it is compatible with the vvx color expansion module. I considered getting the vvx 450 with the EM50 module but it appears the EM50 module only works with the obi edition so that is going to be a hard pass on the 450 for me.

bootrom/Updater missing IP6000/IP7000

I have a question as to what the impacts are of not including the updater file when upgrading the UC software. We upgraded to the UC software 4.0.14 but we never included the updater(bootrom) file 5.0.14.  All the IP6000/IP7000 are running at least 4.x bootroom. I am assuming we will need to upgrade the updater but wanted to understand the difference in versions.

Web Server stopped working after upgrade

We have a several VVX 600 phones.  We upgraded them to 5.9.6.  We are using a provisioning server for this.  The only overrides we did was just the phone lines for each user.  Everything else is as default.  I have looked at the web config on the phone and it is enabled.

When we attempt to log back into the web interface we keep getting:

The document requested was not found on this server.

Any suggestions?

How to configure Zoom Rooms Controller with Trio Hybrid mode

Hi, i have a Trio 8800 + Visual+ + Eagle Camera  for few months.

Presently i pay zoom Rooms and zoom H323 connector.

I have configured the trio for use :

sip in line 1

zoom in line 2 in not registered mode.

When i click in zoom line 2, it connect zoom default h323 page with PIN code at the bottom of the screen. I connect to the web with my admin zoom account and i type the meeting number and the pin code from the Trio.

This procedure is overkill for day to day user.

My question is: How to configure Trio for Zoom ROOM controller

And how to configure in zoom web page for use with the trio in Hybrid mode, but with hybrid mode.

I am very disappointed with the trio.

Custom Upgrade Server Trio

We use an internal ftp server to update the UC software on our 8300/8500/8800/C60 Trios and I'm trying to figure out (via a cfg file) a means to for our internal server to be the default.

Utilities -> Software Upgrade keeps reverting back to Poly Hosted Server upon rebooting.

Any advice on how to accomplish this?

If so is it possible to configure a Trio so that it will automatically update the UC software if it detects a newer version on the server?

Thanks!

HOLD AND RETRIEVE USING THE BLF KEYS

Hi,

I have been trying to set up the subject but I can't seem to make it work. 8x8.com portal call this feature Call Park Extension. However, based on a lot of Poly Admin guide I read, no mention about the Call Park Extension.

Hoping somebody in the community can help me with this setup. Been checking the different articles in this community but can't find anything similar.

Use case:

Let’s say we need to set up an efficient call flow in a hardware store with Lighting, Paints, and Lumber departments. When the front desk answers a call for the Lighting department., the front desk parks the call to the Lighting department extension. The call is then retrieved by the Lighting department.

The front desk presses the BLF key to park the call for the Lighting department. The Lighting department presses the blinking BLF key on their phone to retrieve the call.

Phone Basic Information:
Phone Model: VVX 410
Part Number: 3111-46162-001 Rev:A
MAC Address: 00:04:F2:55:F6:E4
IP Mode: IPv4
IP Address: 192.168.1.2
UC Software Version: 5.9.6.2327 (SIP/UC using PDMS)
Updater Version: 5.9.7.38223
Call Platform: Cisco BroadWorks

Thank you.

Trio 8800 JQuery Version 1.4.4 Vulnerability

A recent security audit of our network found a vulnerability with our Polycom Trio 8800 w/ Visual+ devices. I've updated the latest available version: 5.9.5.2830 and the vulnerability still exists. Are there any plans to update JQuery in new versions of the phone software, or does this issue not apply to or affect the Polycom Trio phone software?

We're using Nessus with plugins dated 09/26/2020 to scan for these vulnerabilities. Nessus returns the following information:

According to the self-reported version in the script, the version of JQuery hosted on the remote web server is greater than or equal to 1.2 and prior to 3.5.0. It is, therefore, affected by multiple cross site scripting vulnerabilities.

  URL               : https://10.1x.xx.xx/js/jquery.js

  Installed version : 1.4.4

Polycom Soundstation 6000 IP No 2nd Incoming call Alert.

I have a Soundstation 6000 IP. When the 1st incoming call comes in I get the flashing LEDs and Ringing. But when the 2nd incoming call comes the only indication I get is the little musical notes flashing in the upper left hand screen. Which unless you are looking for it you will never see it. When you put the 1st call on hold, then you get the Flashing LEDs and Ringing. Is there something I'm missing on the 2nd incoming Alerting the phone?

(Re)setting default network params on Soundpoint IP 331/450

Due to Covid-19, we're shifted our office phone system from using a local Asterisk PBX to a cloud-based solution, so that staff can take their phones home.

This is succesful - the phones have been configured to register on the new cloud-based PBX, and they work fine: in the office.

However, we've been unable to use them on any other networks (we're using soft phones for now to work from home but it's not as satisfactory). We've realised that a long-departed technician set them up in an unusual way, which I think is connected to a VLAN.

The symptoms are that when we attempt to use them on our home networks, if asked to get their settings via DHCP, the phone nevers get past "Waiting for network to initialize".  At the hardware level, the ethernet is connected - a laptop connected to the PC port of the phone can use the network fine.

If we disable DHCP, and give the phones the IP address of the router, a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, a suitable fixed IP, and a common DNS server (e.g. 8.8.8.8), the phone boots as if all is well. However, it doesn't register on the PBX; and for example never gets the time. Indications are therefore that it's not actually connecting to the internet.

(There's an inconsistency: on one occasion I've been able to ping the phone, and in fact access its web-based config page, although the phone cannot apparently access the internet; however I've not able to reproduce this with another phone on another home network.)

I found that VLAN Filtering was enabled, and disabled it - however this hasn't helped.

My guess is that if the phone had default network settings, it would find the DHCP server and just work. But I don't know if there's way to reset to these; or just to find out what the default settings are so that I can apply them one by one.

Any assistance, either to reset to default settings, or a suggestion of what specific settings might cause these symptoms, would be gratefully received!

Access log on Soundpoint 330 without boot server

Due to Covid I've taken a phone home and am attempting to have it register on our cloud provider's system. With help of this forum I've reset "Local Config"  and "Dev. Settings" to factory defaults, which has enabled it to pick up DHCP and get on the network. I can now access the web settings interface, and have set all the aspects I think that I need (copied from a phone that's working in our office, accessed over VPN).

I know the phone can access the internet because it was able to pick up the current time from a time server. But it's not registering on the cloud platform. I hope that if I could see the log files I might be able to find out why not.

I understand that normally the phone uploads its log files to a boot server; but I'm at home and it can't connect to one! Is there a way to access the log files directly on the phone? Can I ssh/telnet/ftp into it?

Many thanks, David.

VVX 201 slow dial issue

We have several phones across our organization that have the same issue of slow dialing. When you pick up the receiver and start dialing, the phone hesitates up to 5 seconds before it shows the numbers dialed and the corresponding tones.

We are running Skype for Business 2015 On-Prem with a Audio Codes Mediant 2600.

Here are some MAC addresses of some of the afflicted phones:

64167F85A53D
64167F85A51B
64167F85A53D
64167F85A91D

I recently installed the latest cumulative updates for all the SFB Server Roles. I have ruled out any cabling issues.

Here is a video of the behavior:

Any help is appreciated, I'm happy to answer any questions.

SoundPoint IP 320/330 and 321/331 BootROM & Firmware Updates

$

Hi:

I'm fairly experienced in networks, etc. but not that much in VoIP... so please bear with me. Long story short-> we have a couple of hundred Polycom SoundPoint IP 320/330 and 321/331 installed across our network. They are working but are managed by our current VoIP provider. As we are looking to change providers I took a look at the phones and found that they are running a bunch of different firmware versions which makes a nightmare to configure and manage. So, I'm trying to have them all set the same way.

Looking at the firmware table:

https://downloads.polycom.com/voice/voip/sip_sw_releases_matrix.html

I see that the latest firmware for the 321/331 is 4.0.15.1009 and that for 320/330 is 3.3.5. I set up a local TFTP server and started updating the phones but a lot of them did not get the updates (and I see them hitting the server for the files).

I also see that the BootROM can (and in some cases has to) be updated. But I can't find what is the latest version that works on each phone (and more importantly where to download it).

I'm hoping that by updating the BootROM all the updates should go thru. Any advice on where to get them? I realize the phones are old, but they are in good working order.

Polycom defaults provisioning server settings

I have noticed on many VVX series phones that when a phone is moved or sometimes rebooted, it will fall back to default provisioning server settings. The phone still works and syncs to our system as it is holding its most recent config file but does not hit our NDP server. When I log into the phone I see the provisioning server has defaulted back to FTP an empty spaces in the server URL. Why is this and how can I fix it so it stops defaulting?

Virtual (cloud based) PBX + SIP trunk + VVX411

Good evening.

Desperately need community/experts help on following - I bought 15 Polycom VVX411 phones and IP telephony provider has given us:

1. a virtual PBX (example = vats123456.megapbx.xxx);

2. a sip trunk connection (single RJ-45 cable);

3. and the following data for connection:

IP address: 10.xxx.yy.185

Subnet maks: 255.255.255.248

Default gateway: 10.xxx.yy.190

IP SBC: 10.1.0.13

Each user/"number" within virtual PBX has an account (example = name_lastname@vats123456.megapbx.xxx) with password, which is used for populating the Line info in Line configuration at manual or automatic set up/provisioning of phones. Phones were provisioned to 6.3.1.8427 via FTP server at our router.

However, we are unable to connect any info presented on FAQ/forum to our situation to have our phones connected, whichever combination of initial information we try in phone settings.

Questions:

1. Does anyone have an example, similar to ours and was able to "map" initial data (similar to above) to actual vvx411 phone settings?

2. Is provided information enough to connect our phones to virtual PBX and sip trunk?

Any good source of information to read/get acquainted would be helpful. Thanks a lot!

P.S. I did ask quite a few of IT specialists and companies to help us tuning up our telephones and system (as a paid service), yet every single one of them was providing only general info with an excuse "or, I never worked with this equipment".
