VVX601 Blue, Green, Red LED not lit on headset, speakerphone, or mute key activation

While updating the firmware on the phones I suddenly noticed that these keys had color LED lights. The lights since day 1 have not lit up when in use, but it seems that the manual indicates they should. Is there a phone config change we need to make to enable this functionality?
